In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Fernandes also said she is confident the city will reach the goal of <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-chief-executive-expects-over-30-million-visitors-this-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">33 million visitors<\/a> this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said this would require engagement through compelling content and reasons to visit, stating that it&#8217;s no longer enough to rely on traditional advertising methods, particularly in light of tourist preferences for &#8220;personalised services&#8221; and family-oriented offerings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, Macau\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-received-28-million-visitors-in-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">received 28.23 million<\/a>, 71 per cent of the 2019 pre-pandemic levels (39.4 million).\u00a0A week ago, a survey by<strong>\u00a0the China Tourism Academy<\/strong>\u00a0revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-becomes-top-destination-for-mainland-chinese-tourists\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Macau was the most popular destination for mainland Chinese tourists<\/a> in the first quarter of 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MGTO aims to attract\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-government-tourism-office-expects-over-2m-overseas-visitors-in-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">around 2 million visitors<\/a> from outside of China this year.
