{"id":777016110,"date":"2024-06-04T09:32:01","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T12:32:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=777016110"},"modified":"2026-04-22T09:32:45","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T12:32:45","slug":"indonesian-authorities-to-meet-with-google-over-online-gambling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/indonesian-authorities-to-meet-with-google-over-online-gambling","title":{"rendered":"Indonesian authorities to meet with Google over online gambling"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The communications and information minister wants to discuss using AI to tackle online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Indonesia.- <strong>Budie Arie<\/strong>, Indonesia&#8217;s communication and informatics minister, announced this week that he will meet with representatives from Google to discuss the possible use of artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February, <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/indonesia-asks-x-to-develop-system-to-take-down-gambling-ads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arie met with representatives from the Singapore office of X<\/a>, formerly Twitter, to discuss the automatic removal of gambling ads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May, president <strong>Joko Widodo <\/strong>ordered Arie to <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/indonesia-to-create-task-force-against-online-gambling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">set up a task force<\/a> to eradicate online gambling. The integrated unit working across ministries and institutions is headed by the coordinating minister for policy, law and security, <strong>Hadi Tjahjanto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Antara News, between July 17, 2023 and May 22 this year, authorities took down 1,918,520 pieces of online gambling content.
