Growth\u00a0was mainly driven\u00a0by exports of services\u00a0and steady\u00a0private consumption and gross fixed capital formation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exports of gaming services and other tourism services increased by\u00a062.7 per cent and 14.8 per cent, respectively. GDP at current prices dropped by 2.7 per cent to MOP104.8bn.\u00a0The implicit deflator of GDP, which measures overall price changes, increased by 2.3 per cent year-on-year to a reading of 106.8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the first three months of the year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-gaming-tax-revenue-up-116-8-in-q1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Macau collected MOP22.92bn ($2.84bn) in taxes from casino operations<\/a>. The figure was up 116.8 per cent when compared to the same period last year.\u00a0In March, the Macau government collected MOP7.12bn ($882.71m), up 77.26 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cumulatively, Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the first quarter of the year was MOP$57.3bn (US$7.11bn), up 65.5 per cent year-on-year and implying a full-year run rate of around MOP$229.2bn (US$28.4bn).\u00a0 During the same period, the city received nearly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-received-nearly-9m-visitors-in-q1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">9 million visitors<\/a>, up by 80 per cent compared to\u00a0the same period\u00a0last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Exports of gaming\u00a0services rose by 62.7\u00a0per cent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":21513,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau's Q1 GDP surged by 25.7% year-on-year, reaching 87.2% of 2019 levels, primarily driven by a 62.7% increase in exports of gaming services.
