The company shared this news during a conference call following\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/galaxy-entertainment-group-net-revenue-up-50-in-q1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the announcement of its first-quarter results.<\/a> According to Jefferies Hong Kong, the operator said the deployment is expected to be completed by the end of the year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February, during the company&#8217;s call to discuss fourth-quarter earnings and the firm&#8217;s outlook,\u00a0<strong>Ted Chan Ying Tat<\/strong>, GEG&#8217;s chief financial officer, had mentioned plans for the rollout of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. He said RFID would lead\u00a0to improvements in effectiveness, efficiency and integrity.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ)<\/strong>\u00a0has <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casinos-urged-to-upgrade-monitoring-systems\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">highlighted the installation of radio frequency identification (RFID) gaming tables<\/a>\u00a0as key to improving casino efficiency and management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan Stanley<\/strong>\u00a0previously reported that Macau casinos\u2019 plans to\u00a0install RFID tables\u00a0will help accurately identify foreign gamblers. A rule introduced in December 2022 provides<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casinos-may-create-foreign-player-zones-for-5-levy-exemption\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a 5 per cent tax rebate in gaming zones<\/a>\u00a0designated for patrons holding foreign passports.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Galaxy Entertainment&nbsp;Group&nbsp;net revenue&nbsp;up&nbsp;50% in Q1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this week, GEG shared its financial results for the first quarter of the year. Net revenue was HK$10.55bn (US$1.37bn),&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/galaxy-entertainment-group-posts-net-revenue-of-us901-45m-for-q1\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">up 50 per cent in year-on-year terms<\/a>&nbsp;and up 2 per cent sequentially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the first quarter was HK$2.84bn (US$362.9m), up 48.7 per cent year-on-year, and up 1 per cent quarter-on-quarter.&nbsp;GGR was HK$9.63bn (US$1.23bn), up 59 per cent year-on-year and up 4 per cent when compared to the previous quarter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mass GGR was HK$7.7bn (US$990m), up 57 per cent year-on-year and down 1 per cent quarter-on-quarter. Rolling chip GGR was HK$1.3bn (US$166m), up 64 per cent year-on-year and up 43 per cent quarter-on-quarter.
