Effective May 27, residents and holders of residence permits from Taiyuan, Hohhot, Harbin, Lhasa, Lanzhou, Xining, Yinchuan, and Urumqi will be eligible to apply for individual travel endorsements.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obtainable at local public security organs or through\u00a0smart\u00a0endorsement equipment, the endorsements permit a maximum stay of seven days per visit in Macau or Hong Kong.\u00a0It&#8217;s the second expansion of the scheme this year, following\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-welcomes-expansion-of-chinese-visa-programme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the addition of Qingdao and Xi\u2019an<\/a>\u00a0in March.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau\u2019s chief executive,\u00a0<strong>Ho Iat Seng<\/strong>, thanked China\u2019s central government for allowing eligible individuals from more mainland cities to travel to Hong Kong and Macau through the scheme.\u00a0In a press release by the government information bureau, the chief executive said Macau would take advantage of the opportunity. He said the Macau government would collaborate with relevant industries to enhance tourism facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO)<\/strong>\u00a0has announced that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-received-nearly-9m-visitors-in-q1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the city received nearly 9 million visitors during the first three months of the year<\/a>.
