Announced today (29 April) by CEO <strong>Ciaran Carruthers<\/strong>, the move will reduce the number of employees at a corporate and resort level by approximately 4 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the redundancies will take place in Melbourne and Sydney. The Perth venue is doing better economically. Carruthers\u00a0said: &#8220;The challenges at Crown reflect greatly reduced foreign tourism, a sharp decline in local workers in the city centres, and restrictions on gaming play in Sydney and Melbourne.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision comes after the operator <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/job-cuts-expected-as-crown-sydney-reduces-hours\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cut working hours at its Sydney venue<\/a>. Crown Resorts has recorded losses for the last three years. In the Fiscal Year 2023,\u00a0it <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crown-resorts-posts-full-year-loss-despite-revenue-increase\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported a loss of AU$199m (US$125.18m)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>NSW Independent Casino Commission (NICC)<\/strong>\u00a0recently announced that<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crown-sydney-deemed-suitable-to-retain-casino-licence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Crown Sydney\u00a0has been deemed suitable<\/a>\u00a0to retain its casino licence after nearly three years of remediation.
