(PAGCOR)<\/strong>\u00a0to take action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tulfo questioned PAGCOR&#8217;s chairman and CEO\u00a0<strong>Alejandro Tengco<\/strong>\u00a0on the regulator&#8217;s efforts to stop online cockfighting and cast doubt on PAGCOR&#8217;s intelligence funding. He called for<strong> a more proactive stance<\/strong>, urging the regulator to exert pressure on law enforcement agencies to take enforcement measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tengco noted PAGCOR&#8217;s collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in identifying and shutting approximately 2,000 e-sabong websites.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to The Inquirer, Tulfo called for closer monitoring and intervention. The senator claimed that some e-sabong operations were owned by retired generals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former president\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/duterte-apologises-for-taking-his-time-to-suspend-e-sabong\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rodrigo Duterte<\/a>\u00a0ordered the\u00a0<strong>suspension of online cockfighting <\/strong>in May 2022 after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippines-calls-for-e-sabong-to-be-suspended-after-31-disappear\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">31 people disappeared<\/a> in an incident connected to industry.
