Wong based his estimates on the Macau Government Tourist Office&#8217;s (MGTO) estimate that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-expects-120000-daily-visitors-for-chinese-new-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the city could receive more than 960,000 visitors during the holiday period<\/a>, approximately 120,000 per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He told Macau Daily News that all Sands China hotels were &#8220;fully booked&#8221; during the first few days of the holiday, which concludes this weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December, hotel occupancy rates were up by 43.1 percentage points in year-on-year terms to nearly 86 per cent, according to Statistics and Census Service data. <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-up-67-in-january\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Macau\u2019s GGR for January<\/a>\u00a0was MOP19.34bn (US$2.4bn). That\u2019s a rise of 4.5 per cent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-up-333-8-in-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">month-on-month<\/a>.
