The warning comes after it found the licensee of Vbar on Liverpool St in Sydney\u2019s CBD to be breaching the Gaming Machines Regulation 2019 by placing an Automatic Teller Machine in an &#8220;ATM room\u201d attached to its gaming room.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inspectors from the L&amp;GNSW found the ATM and the magistrate determined it was in the same part of the hotel as gaming machines. Large text reading \u201cATM\u201d was displayed across the door to the room, on the gaming room side. The venue was fined AU$5,500.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>See also:<\/strong>&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/lgnsw-fines-sportchamps-for-repeat-gambling-ads-violations\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">L&amp;GNSW fines SportChamps for repeat gambling ads violations<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Liquor &amp; Gaming NSW executive director,\u00a0<strong>Jane Lin<\/strong>, emphasised the importance of separating ATMs from gaming rooms to prevent easy access to cash withdrawals.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lin said: &#8220;ATMs must be located in a part of the venue completely separate to gaming rooms or any other part of a venue where gaming machines are located, even if the internal design or fit-out of the room acts to screen the ATM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is important because having such ready access to cash withdrawals can make it easier for gamblers to lose track of what they are spending, while locating ATMs further away from gaming machines can encourage them to have a break in play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese requirements are clearly outlined in the Gaming Machines Regulation 2019 and have been further communicated to licensees in an effort to prevent and minimise gambling harm. L&amp;GNSW has a zero-tolerance approach for venue operators who do not comply with fundamental gaming harm minimisation measures.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TheL&amp;GNSW said inspectors are vigilant for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the availability of credit from ATMs on the premises of a venue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the visibility of&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/nsw-steps-up-controls-on-illegal-gambling-signage\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">internal gaming-related signage<\/a>&nbsp;(e.g. \u2018VIP lounge\u2019 ) from outside the venue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hotel layouts that compel patrons to pass through a gaming room to access another area (or service) of the venue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ensuring that self-exclusion signage is present in gaming rooms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>minors in gaming rooms or using gaming machines or electronic betting terminals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>compliance with Gaming Plans of Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The regulator warned licenced venues to adhere to gaming harm minimisation measures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":777007112,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) has issued a warning and fined Vbar for breaching gaming harm minimisation measures by locating an ATM adjacent to its gaming room.
