The prefecture had considered participating in the current round but the Prefectural Assembly voted against it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to GGRAsia, Kishimoto remained cautious and highlighted the potential financial risks associated with casinos considering China&#8217;s restrictions on overseas gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year,\u00a0<strong>Wakayama Prefectural Assembly<\/strong>\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/wakayama-prefecture-rejects-ir-plan\" target=\"_blank\">rejected plans to bid for a casino resort<\/a>. Two prefectural assembly committees, the General Services Committee and the Economics Committee, had voted in favour of the IR plan. However, at a plenary meeting,\u00a022 members of the prefectural council voted against, versus 18 in favour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/japan-only-2-locations-submit-ir-proposals\" target=\"_blank\">Osaka and Nagasaki<\/a>\u00a0submitted bids in Japan&#8217;s first round of applications. Osaka&#8217;s IR District Development Plan secured provisional approval in April.
