{"id":777004973,"date":"2023-05-08T13:01:06","date_gmt":"2023-05-08T16:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=777004973"},"modified":"2026-04-22T22:11:42","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T01:11:42","slug":"macau-ggr-reaches-us556-7m-in-first-7-days-of-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-reaches-us556-7m-in-first-7-days-of-may","title":{"rendered":"Macau GGR reaches US$556.7m in first 7 days of May"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Macau&#8217;s gross gaming revenue saw a sharp rise from the first quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Analysts at<strong> JP Morgan Securities (Asia Pacific)<\/strong> have reported that Macau\u2019s casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the first seven days of May is estimated<strong>&nbsp;to be around MOP4.5bn (US$556.7m)<\/strong>.&nbsp;This comes after the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-received-491968-visitors-during-labour-day-holiday\" target=\"_blank\">Labour Day holiday<\/a> generated daily casino GGR estimated at MOP900m from April 29 to May 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GGR dropped to half of that during the remaining four days of the reporting period until May 7, but it still appears that demand for mass-market gambling will be at least 90 per cent of pre-Covid levels during the holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysts<strong> DS Kim <\/strong>and<strong> Mufan Shi <\/strong>said Macau GGR numbers are &#8220;looking great, despite frustratingly weak stock momentum,&#8221; referring to the recent decline in Macau&#8217;s gaming concessionaires&#8217; stock prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the memo, MOP4.5bn GGR would imply a daily run-rate of MOP640m, which is significantly higher than the MOP490m per day achieved in April, &#8220;let alone MOP385m&#8221; daily in the first quarter this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau&nbsp;<\/strong>reported that&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-up-15-6-month-on-month-in-april\" target=\"_blank\">GGR for the month of April<\/a>&nbsp;was&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-up-247\" target=\"_blank\">up 15.6 per cent month-on-month<\/a>&nbsp;from MOP12.73bn to MOP14.72bn (US$1.83bn). The figure was up 449.9 per cent when compared to last year. April was the best month since January 2020, before the Covid-19 pandemic began.
