{"id":777002005,"date":"2023-02-02T13:26:20","date_gmt":"2023-02-02T16:26:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=777002005"},"modified":"2026-04-23T00:58:53","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T03:58:53","slug":"macau-ggr-may-reach-60-per-cent-of-2019-levels-by-june-analysts-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-may-reach-60-per-cent-of-2019-levels-by-june-analysts-say","title":{"rendered":"Macau GGR may reach 60 per cent of 2019 levels by June, analysts say"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Analysts at Morgan Stanley predict February&#8217;s gross gaming revenue will reach MOP11.2bn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.-&nbsp;<strong>Morgan Stanley<\/strong>&nbsp;has predicted that Macau&#8217;s monthly gross gaming revenue will reach<strong>&nbsp;60 per cent of 2019 levels <\/strong>by June, with a year-on-year increase of 500 per cent.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It believes that mass revenue during the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-records-451047-tourist-arrivals-during-chinese-new-year\" target=\"_blank\">Chinese New Year holiday<\/a>&nbsp;recovered to 72 per cent of the 2019 levels, driven by strong demand from grind and premium mass segments.&nbsp;It estimates that February gross gaming revenue will reach MOP 11.2bn, with a daily average of MOP 400mn \u2013 a 44 per cent year-on-year increase. That would be 44 per cent of February 2019 revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In January,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-up-232-6-in-january\" target=\"_blank\">Macau reported gross gaming revenue<\/a>&nbsp;of MOP11.6bn (US$1.4bn), a year-on-year rise of 82.5 per cent. That&#8217;s the best monthly performance since January 2020 \u2013 before the Covid-19 pandemic. According to analysts,&nbsp;<strong>15 per cent of gaming revenue in January<\/strong>&nbsp;came from VIP segments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau received&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-records-451047-tourist-arrivals-during-chinese-new-year\" target=\"_blank\">451,047 visitors<\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>during the seven-day Chinese New Year holiday period between January 21 and 27, according to the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For full-year 2022, Macau\u2019s casino GGR&nbsp;<strong>decreased by 51.4 per cent<\/strong>&nbsp;compared with 2021 to MOP42.19bn (US$5.25bn).
