Revenue was up 82.5 per cent&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-down-20-3-in-january\" target=\"_blank\">year-on-year<\/a> and represents the best monthly performance since January 2020 \u2013 before the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), the rise was the result of the end of mainland China&#8217;s and Macau&#8217;s &#8216;zero-covid&#8217; policies at the beginning of the month, which resulted in an increase in tourism, as well as the seven-day <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-records-451047-tourist-arrivals-during-chinese-new-year\" target=\"_blank\">Chinese New Year<\/a> holiday period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city received&nbsp;<strong>451,047 visitors&nbsp;<\/strong>during the holiday period between January 21 and 27, according to the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO).&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-expects-50k-daily-tourists-during-chinese-new-year\" target=\"_blank\">The number surpassed expectations<\/a>, representing a three-fold increase from the previous year but was 38 per cent lower than in pre-pandemic 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For full-year 2022, Macau\u2019s casino GGR&nbsp;<strong>decreased by 51.4 per cent<\/strong>&nbsp;compared with 2021 to MOP42.19bn (US$5.25bn).
