{"id":777001736,"date":"2023-01-25T13:57:52","date_gmt":"2023-01-25T16:57:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=777001736"},"modified":"2026-04-23T01:13:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T04:13:58","slug":"nsw-players-lost-au2-1bn-on-pokies-in-q3-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/nsw-players-lost-au2-1bn-on-pokies-in-q3-2022","title":{"rendered":"NSW players lost AU$2.1bn on pokies in Q3 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Liquor and Gaming NSW figures show machines in pubs account for 44 per cent of all losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Australia.- As Premier Dominic Perrottet continues to seek support to move forward with his&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/nsw-gambling-reform-plan-loses-support-from-two-independents\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cashless gaming card policy<\/a>, Liquor and Gaming NSW has recently revealed that in 2022 gamblers lost more than AU$2.1bn on poker machines in less than 100 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The regulator also revealed daily profits from poker machines in pubs and clubs hit AU$23m as player losses rose 11 per cent over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slot machines in bars now account for <strong>44 per cent of all losses<\/strong>, even though they house only 26 per cent of the state&#8217;s poker machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the 86,568 poker machines in clubs and pubs across NSW, Canterbury-Bankstown slots generated AU$182m in the third quarter of 2022, Fairfield AU$174m and Cumberland AU$124m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poker machines in Blacktown brought in AU100m, while<strong> pokies in the Sydney metropolitan area brought in AU$96m<\/strong>. In Penrith, the machines made a profit of AU$64m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per regional NSW machines, between July and September, on the Central Coast, they generated AU$85m, AU$53m in Wollongong and AU$51m in Newcastle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Monday (January 23),&nbsp;<strong>Perrottet<\/strong>&nbsp;ruled out the possibility that&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/nsw-pm-rules-out-exemptions-to-cashless-gaming-card-policy\" target=\"_blank\">non-metropolitan areas could be exempt<\/a>&nbsp;from the state\u2019s cashless gaming card policy.
