{"id":7757,"date":"2020-07-01T22:22:10","date_gmt":"2020-07-01T22:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=7757"},"modified":"2026-04-24T03:59:41","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T06:59:41","slug":"macau-sees-worst-ggr-results-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-sees-worst-ggr-results-yet","title":{"rendered":"Macau sees worst GGR results yet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In June the city saw a 97 per cent year-on-year drop in gross gaming revenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Macau.- The <strong><em>Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau<\/em><\/strong> in Macau has released its latest report on Gross Revenue from Games of Fortune (GGR) showing the most severe fall yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The city saw a 97 per cent drop in GGR year-on-year for June, the largest monthly decrease of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gross gaming revenue totalled MOP716 million (US$89.7 million), compared to the MOP23.812 billion (US$2.98 billion) in June 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Monthly GGR has been down since the beginning of the year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and travel restrictions in the main Asian markets. In January the fall was of 11.3 per cent, by February it had reached 87.8 per cent, and the first quarter ended with a 79.7 per cent year-on-year decrease in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In April GGR was 96.8 per cent below April 2019 results, and in <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-gaming-ggr-may\">May the fall was of 93.2 per cent<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Accumulated gross gaming revenues in the first half of 2020 totalled MOP33,720 million (US$4,223 million), 77 per cent less than in the same period in 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In June the city saw a 97 per cent year-on-year drop in gross gaming revenues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau's Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) experienced a record 97% year-on-year decline in June 2020, totaling MOP716 million (US$89.7 million), marking the most severe monthly drop this year.
