{"id":7743,"date":"2020-07-01T22:18:30","date_gmt":"2020-07-01T22:18:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=7743"},"modified":"2026-04-24T04:00:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T07:00:01","slug":"kingston-sees-16-drop-in-gaming-revenue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/kingston-sees-16-drop-in-gaming-revenue","title":{"rendered":"Kingston sees 16% drop in gaming revenue"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The operator of two hotels and casinos in Macau has reported a 13 per cent fall in overall revenue and 16% fall in gaming revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Casino operator Kingston Finance has reported a 13 per cent decline in revenue for the year ending March 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Total revenue for the year was HK$2.6 billion (US$339.8 million), down from HK$3 billion (US$392,1 million) in the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company said the drop was mainly due to impairment losses on advances to customers in margin financing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kingston\u2019s gaming business provides services to casinos run by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (or SJM) at Casa Real Hotel and Grandview Hotel Macau. The firm said in its financial report that \u201cthe two casinos consistently provided solid contributions to the group\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>None the less, it stated that the Covid-19 pandemic and the consequent drop in tourism in Macau had affected operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Revenue in its <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-sjm-holdings-casino\">hotel and gaming businesses<\/a><\/strong><\/em> fell by around 19 per cent and 16 per cent respectively, year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gaming revenue totalled HK$382.2 million (US$49.3 million), down 16 per cent from HK$457,795 in the previous year.
