{"id":7669,"date":"2020-06-29T22:09:11","date_gmt":"2020-06-29T22:09:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=7669"},"modified":"2026-04-24T04:04:31","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T07:04:31","slug":"revenue-falls-14-at-philippine-casinos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/revenue-falls-14-at-philippine-casinos","title":{"rendered":"Revenue falls 14% at Philippine casinos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Casino operations in the first quarter were heavily impacted by quarantine measures in the Philippines, but POGOs saw an increase in revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR) has released data showing casino revenues fell by 14 per cent year-on-year in Q1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>PAGCOR<\/em><\/strong> said local casinos had taken P45.40 billion (US$910.8 million) in gross gaming revenue (GGR).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Casinos in Manila saw revenue of P33.46 billion (US$672 million) \u2013 31 per cent less than in the same period of 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Casinos in Entertainment City accounted for nearly 74 per cent of all GGR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, revenue from Philippine online gaming operators (POGOs) grew by 34.9 per cent to P1.81 billion (US$36 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Total gambling GGR in the first three months of the year, including electronic gaming sites, was P52.40 billion (US$1.05 billion), down by 12.8 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although some casinos located outside of Metro Manila <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/four-philippine-casinos-reopen-with-capacity-limits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">have already received the green-light to reopen<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, quarantine measures remain in place for most of the mayor players in the sector, who hope to reopen in July. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Casino operations in the first quarter were heavily impacted by quarantine measures in the Philippines, but POGOs saw an increase in revenue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":7671,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Philippine casino GGR declined 14% year-on-year in Q1 due to quarantine measures, with Manila casinos experiencing a 31% drop.
