{"id":7658,"date":"2020-06-29T21:54:21","date_gmt":"2020-06-29T21:54:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=7658"},"modified":"2026-04-24T04:05:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T07:05:09","slug":"pagcor-warns-pogos-leaving-philippines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-warns-pogos-leaving-philippines","title":{"rendered":"PAGCOR warns POGOs leaving Philippines"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The body warns that two POGOs have pulled out of the Philippines due to tax battle with the Bureau of Internal Revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Philippines.- Andrea Domingo, head of the <strong><em>Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation<\/em><\/strong> (PAGCOR), has said that two POGOs have already left the Philippines and more were considering pulling out owing to government demands for unpaid taxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Domingo\u2019s statement, Suncity, a unit of Macau&#8217;s giant Suncity Group, and Don Tencess Asian Solutions have requested the cancellation of their licences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAGCOR said others had said they were going to leave but had not delivered official notification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, consulted by IAG, Suncity Group said Domingo must have been referring to its telebetting services, and not its junket business in Manila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suncity said: \u201cThe junket business in Manila is definitely important to us and we can\u2019t find any reason to leave Manila at this particular moment\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippine government has warned that POGOs that have tax debts with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will not be allowed to resume operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only a <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/11-pogos-allowed-to-resume-operations\" target=\"_blank\">handful of POGOs<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>have resumed operations following the Covid-19 lockdown.
