{"id":7400,"date":"2020-06-18T21:07:27","date_gmt":"2020-06-18T21:07:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=7400"},"modified":"2026-04-24T04:19:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T07:19:38","slug":"mgto-tells-operators-to-expect-slow-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/mgto-tells-operators-to-expect-slow-summer","title":{"rendered":"MGTO tells operators to expect slow summer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Borders will probably remain closed over the summer holiday period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.-&nbsp; The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has said borders will mostly remain closed during the summer holiday period despite an easing of restrictions for travellers from Hong Kong and Guangdong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>MGTO<\/em><\/strong> head Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes warned it would be a slow summer for casino operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said: \u201cChinese or foreign visitors are unlikely to enter Macau, visitation will be limited to certain groups of visitors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The occupancy level in the city\u2019s hotels saw a<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-tourism-up-slightly-in-may\"> small recovery in May<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, but remains at historic low levels for the first five months of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MGTO is encouraging hotels and casinos to offer more discounts and promotions for locals, who will be unable to travel elsewhere.
