{"id":7397,"date":"2020-06-18T21:01:48","date_gmt":"2020-06-18T21:01:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=7397"},"modified":"2026-04-24T04:19:56","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T07:19:56","slug":"macau-local-tourism-project-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-local-tourism-project-begins","title":{"rendered":"Macau: local tourism project begins"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Over 3,100 people sign up in the first day to experience local attractions and hospitality in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- The <strong><em>Macao Government Tourism Office<\/em><\/strong> (MGTO) has begun to receive applications for its local tourism project \u201cMacao Ready Go!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a way to encourage residents to enjoy local attractions, temples and hospitality activities usually aimed at tourists, the city&#8217;s authorities are offering participants a subsidy of 280 patacas per tour, with a maximum subsidy of 560 patacas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project\u2019s goal is to activate the local hospitality industry, which  continues to be severely hit by the Covid-19 lockdown and travel restrictions, by subsidising local tourism. It includes visits to IRs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MGTO said in a recent press release: \u201cThe Macao Special Administrative Region Government hopes that the project \u201cMacao Ready Go! Local Tours\u201d can lead to progressive resumption of tourism activities in Macao in parallel with the <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-hong-kong\">city\u2019s scheme for economic recovery<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents have a choice of 15 itineraries in two categories: community based-tours and leisure tours. The latter mainly visit local integrated resorts (IR), although tours take place in non-gambling areas.
