{"id":7119,"date":"2020-06-08T21:19:45","date_gmt":"2020-06-08T21:19:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=7119"},"modified":"2026-04-24T04:38:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T07:38:18","slug":"pacific-international-legal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pacific-international-legal","title":{"rendered":"New demand puts Imperial Pacific licence at risk"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Commonwealth Casino Commission has issued a demand over fees owed to the Northern Mariana Islands since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Hong Kong.- Imperial Pacific International faces a new demand that could put its licence at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commonwealth Casino Commission (CCC) has issued a demand to suspend the Hong Kong casino operator\u2019s licence over its alleged failure to pay fees owed to the Northern Mariana Islands since 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under its licence agreement, Imperial Pacific must pay a fee of US$20 million per year to a benefit fund that supports community projects on the islands, but Charlie Atalig, acting executive director of the CCC, said the company had failed to make the payments, Gambling Insider reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stated the delay \u201cconstitutes a violation of the casino license agreement and breach of contract, both of which constitute offenses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imperial Pacific has faced several <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/imperial-pacific-casino-lawsuit-2\">legal battles in the past months<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, including with New York\u2019s Sardini Group as well as pending cases filed by Pacific Rim Land Development, USA.
