{"id":6758,"date":"2020-05-26T11:50:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-26T11:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=6758"},"modified":"2026-04-24T04:57:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T07:57:19","slug":"new-zealand-rita-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/new-zealand-rita-jobs","title":{"rendered":"RITA cuts 230 TAB jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>New Zealand\u2019s Racing Industry Transition Agency (RITA) will cut 230 jobs at the Totalisator Agency Board (TAB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>New Zealand.- New Zealand\u2019s Racing Industry Transition Agency (RITA) will cut 230 jobs, including 150 permanent staff, at the Totalisator Agency Board (TAB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The job cuts are due to the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, despite New Zealand managing to curb the spread of the virus better and faster than other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RITA said that the cuts will apply to 30 per cent of all TAB staff and estimate that it will provide annual cost savings of more than NZ$11million (US$6.8million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TAB monthly revenue is almost 50 per cent below forecasts and customer numbers are down more than 35 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RITA Executive Chair, Dean McKenzie, said: &#8220;There are incredibly talented, experienced and committed people at the TAB who have delivered so much to our customers and the wider racing industry over many years.
