{"id":6594,"date":"2020-05-20T11:27:27","date_gmt":"2020-05-20T11:27:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=6594"},"modified":"2026-04-24T05:06:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T08:06:22","slug":"complaints-gaming-corruption-grows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/complaints-gaming-corruption-grows","title":{"rendered":"Corruption complaints on the rise"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Commission Against Corruption report shows the number of complaints regarding corruption in the industry are increasing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Complaints on gaming industry corruption acts are increasing according to a report made by <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.mo\/en\/entity-page\/entity-1038\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC)<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The body revealed that it has recorded a &#8220;growing trend&#8221; of complaints in recent years concerning the management of gaming companies and large hotels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its 2019 activity report, the CCAC indicated that these complaints mainly involved irregular acts in the processes of construction project tendering, procurement of goods and recruitment and promotion of personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CCAC announced it is conducting investigations into the public and private sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the report, the CCAC received a total of 584 complaints and reports in 2019 with 319 complaints lodged anonymously. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the total complaints, 66 per cent were found to be \u2018groundless\u2019, not corresponding with the facts or could not be followed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the end of 2019, some 473 cases were opened by the ombudsman\u2019s&nbsp;office.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Commission Against Corruption report shows the number of complaints regarding corruption in the industry are increasing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":6597,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"The Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) in Macau reported a growing trend of corruption complaints within the gaming industry and large hotels, primarily concerning irregularities in construction tendering, procurement, and personnel management.
