Last month, it fell\u00a096.8\u00a0per cent\u00a0YoY as the city starts to recover from the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to figures published by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.mo\/en\/entity-page\/entity-256\/\">Financial Services Bureau<\/a>, the government collected\u00a0MOP2.04\u00a0billion (US$255million) in tax from casinos in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government taxes casino GGR at a rate of 35 per cent, but other levies raise the tax rate to 39 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other taxes on the Macau gambling sector include levies on the income of Chinese traditional lotteries, on horse racing, instant lotteries and tax on commissions earned by operators of gambling junkets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0Macau\u00a0government\u00a0is\u00a0now\u00a0expecting\u00a0a deficit of MOP38.95 billion (US$4.8billion) for full-year 2020,\u00a0due to measures to support the economy amid the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\u00a0a revised budget for 2020, the government has forecast it will collect MOP4.16\u00a0billion in gaming tax on a monthly basis for the rest of the year leading to a total of<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-expects-gaming-taxes\"><em><strong> MOP49.98\u00a0billion\u00a0(US$6.2 billion)<\/strong><\/em><\/a> for FY20.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gaming taxes reached MOP20.53\u00a0billion (US$2.57billion) in the first\u00a0four\u00a0months of the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":2904,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau's gaming tax revenue reached MOP20.53 billion (US$2.57 billion) in the first four months of 2020, marking a 47.9% year-on-year decrease, primarily due to a 96.8% YoY decline in GGR in April following the COVID-19 outbreak.
