Japan.- The Japan Jockey Club will host a charity fundraiser that will see JPY 1,000 (US$9.30) donated for every ride by every jockey in any of the Japan Racing Association (JRA) races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fundraiser, first reported by Inside Asian Gaming<\/em>, can take place because horse races are still being held in Japan but behind closed doors amid the Coronavirus crisis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funds raised will be donated to those impacted by the Covid-19 outbreak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u201cI sincerely hope that all of our everyday lives can return to normal soon. We will continue to make every effort to keep horse racing going,\u201d President of the Jockey Club, Yutaka Take, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February, the Japan Racing Association banned spectators<\/a><\/em><\/strong> from all race meetings in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also temporarily stopped the sale of betting tickets and payouts on race days as well as on weekdays at JRA racecourses and betting facilities. Bettors are being advised to place wagers via telephone or online banking.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
