The amount is to be settled by no later than April 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;To help you financially during these hard times, Okada Manila will release half of your 13th-month pay no later than April 30,&#8221; company President, Takashi Oya, said in a letter sent to employees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Another means of support you can look to is [the human resources department] initiative of connecting team members with other financial aid programmes,&#8221; Oya added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Labour regulations in the Philippines mandate employers grant 13th-month pay to all \u201crank-and-file employees\u201d. This means all employees except senior managers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bureau of Working Conditions of the Department of Labor and Employment of the Philippines explains that \u201cthe 13th-month pay shall not be less than one-twelfth of the total basic salary earned by an employee within a calendar year.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Such benefit \u201cshould be paid not later than December 24 of each year\u201d. An employer can split the benefit into two payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his message to the company\u2019s employees, Oya added: &#8220;Okada Manila and Universal Entertainment have taken the needed steps to ensure that during the extended community quarantine, you will be compensated while also having your benefits in effect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;In order to make this possible, a number of Okada Manila senior executives have volunteered to take pay cuts in order to add to the workforce fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Finally, I would like to assure you that your jobs will be here once we all go back to Okada Manila.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the Coronavirus crisis, Philippines authorities have extended the lockdown of the country\u2019s main island, Luzon,\u00a0until April 30, while <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/coronavirus-okada-manila-restrictions\"><strong><em>casinos in the Philippines have been\u00a0subject to a business pause<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0since mid-March.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Casino operator takes steps to financially support staff during the forced casino closure due to Covid-19.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Okada Manila is implementing financial support measures for its workforce during the extended COVID-19 lockdown and casino closure in the Philippines.
