{"id":5392,"date":"2020-04-08T02:36:20","date_gmt":"2020-04-08T02:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=5392"},"modified":"2026-04-24T06:18:59","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T09:18:59","slug":"macau-6-million-quarantine-hotels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-6-million-quarantine-hotels","title":{"rendered":"Macau spends $6m on quarantine hotels"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Government has so far spent more than $9m on fighting Covid-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- The Macau government has already spent more than US$6million on the use of <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-people-quarantine-hotels\">12 hotels<\/a><\/em><\/strong> designated as quarantine venues since the start of the Coronavirus outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although non-residents have to pay U$S700 for their 14-day medical observation period, quarantine in hotels is free for Macau residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, told legislators yesterday that the authority had so far spent almost U$S9million fighting Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Significant funds have also been spent on sending buses to Hong Kong International Airport to transport returning Macau residents back home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three hotels were removed from the quarantine list.
