{"id":5284,"date":"2020-04-05T23:31:35","date_gmt":"2020-04-05T23:31:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=5284"},"modified":"2026-04-24T06:25:31","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T09:25:31","slug":"casino-korea-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/casino-korea-closure","title":{"rendered":"Grand Korea Leisure extends casino closure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>South Korea gaming operator to keep its casinos closed for another two weeks as part of efforts to defeat Coronavirus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>South Korea.- A casino operator in South Korea will keep its doors closed for two more weeks to prevent the further spread of Coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State-run <strong><em>Grand Korea Leisure (GKL)<\/em><\/strong> announced on Sunday (5th April) that it would maintain closures for another two weeks as part of the national social distancing campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GKL will continue to monitor the situation over the coming 14 days to see whether any of its casino properties can reopen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GKL operates three foreigner-only casinos in Seoul and Busan under the  Seven Luck brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two weeks ago, it was revealed that <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/korean-casinos-first-losses\">GSK estimated a \u20ac13million loss<\/a><\/em><\/strong> as a result of the previous two-week closure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paradise Group, another casino operator in Korea, said in late March that it would close down its four properties in Seoul, Incheon, Jeju and Busan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday (4th April), South Korea extended its social distancing drive for another two weeks until April 19th, as cluster infections and imported Coronavirus cases continued to rise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country has been praised for its testing in the country with large numbers of Covid-19 tests being undertaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The social distancing campaign from the government was first introduced on March 22nd and prohibits mass gatherings of people, while also advising all citizens to voluntarily keep their distance from others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South Korea gaming operator to keep its casinos closed for another two weeks as part of efforts to defeat Coronavirus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":3389,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"State-run Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) has extended the closure of its foreigner-only casinos in South Korea for an additional two weeks, aligning with the national social distancing campaign to combat the Coronavirus spread.
