Cambodia.- Prime Minister Hun Sen has mandated the closure of all casinos in Cambodia from midnight on Thursday until further notice as part of efforts to halt the spread of Coronavirus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government will \u201ctake action in accordance with the law in force accordingly\u201d against any operators that fail to comply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ministry of Economy and Finance will waive monthly tax obligations for the duration of the shutdown, which will impact 120 operational casinos across the country, the most notable being NagaWorld in Phnom Penh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prime Minister explained that the measure will come in force in a couple of days and not immediately because the government needs time to discuss details with casino owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is because casino employers need to solve the issues with their employees. If we close the casinos right away, then casino employers will flee,\u201d he said.
