{"id":4211,"date":"2020-03-06T08:18:51","date_gmt":"2020-03-06T08:18:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=4211"},"modified":"2026-04-24T07:15:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T10:15:58","slug":"pagcors-illegal-online-gambling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcors-illegal-online-gambling","title":{"rendered":"PAGCOR funds new cybercrime operations center"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Philippines&#8217; gaming regulator has contributed \u20ac88,000 to new state of the art facility aimed at clamping down on illegal online gambling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Philippines.- PAGCOR has donated PHP5 million (\u20ac88,000) to the Department of Justice as part of a financial grant to establish and run the DOJ Office of Cybercrime\u2019s Cyber Fusion Operations Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> This comes after PAGCOR, the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Immigration and DOJ\u2019s Office of Cybercrime signed a Mutual Cooperation Agreement in March 2019 to handle intelligence gathering, investigations and prosecutions of illegal online gaming activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to PAGCOR, the financial support will be used to procure IT equipment for the Operations Center, which will serve as the complaint and monitoring center of the inter-agency council against illegal online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe OpCen will operate on a multi-level functions serving as communications facility and hands-on ready training facility,\u201d the Office of Cybercrime\u2019s Officer-in-Charge, Atty. Charito Zamora, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt will definitely help the council in reinforcing its fight against the rampant proliferation of illegal online gambling. We thank PAGCOR for their all-out support for the creation of the OpCen.
