Hong Kong.- Casino cruise operator Genting Hong Kong Ltd has cancelled a number of voyages departing from Singapore as a result of the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cancellations comes after a similar decision we made earlier this month to cancel all voyages to Taiwanese ports \u201cuntil further notice\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Genting Cruise Lines operates three distinct ship-based holiday brands \u2013 Star Cruises, Dream Cruises and Crystal Cruises, and has cancelled a number of its scheduled voyages for the coming weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Genting Dream\u2019s sailings from Singapore were suspended from yesterday \u201cto help curtail the spread of Covid-19 and because of tightening travel restrictions by various countries\u201d, the operator said in a statement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company will resume operations in Singapore from March 27. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a previous statement, guests who had booked on any of the cancelled voyages would be contacted and provided with a variety of compensation options including to defer their cruise to a future sailing or, if needed, to cancel their cruise for a full refund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Genting says that the cruise business\u00a0environment in 2020\u00a0\u201cwill continue to be challenging\u201d due to the coronavirus crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe ultimate economic damage from this ongoing epidemic in the People\u2019s\u00a0Republic of China is still under assessment, but efforts have been made to mitigate the impact to the\u00a0group,\u201d the company said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\u00a0group is confident and committed to long-term\u00a0growth in the Asian cruise market \u2013 which it has been operating in for more than 26 years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company also said that it was \u201cproactively responding to the challenges to ensure the\u00a0overall\u00a0progress of its business operations is not derailed beyond temporary inconvenience\u201d.
