The report detailed an oversight of \u2013 Las Vegas Sands\u2019\u00a0Marina Bay Sands\u00a0and Genting Singapore\u2019s\u00a0Resorts World Sentosa. The CRA doled out<strong> \u20ac 493,000 <\/strong>in penalties representing a significant increase from last year&#8217;s total penalty of \u20ac 40,000. The increase was entirely due to major penalties imposed on Sentosa\u2019s integrated resort &#8211; sister resort to Resorts World\u00a0<em>Genting<\/em> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Resorts World Sentosa <\/strong>was fined three times for a total of \u20ac 482,000. This amount included first, a \u20ac 264,000 penalty for failing to implement a CRA-approved system of internal controls. Secondly, a \u20ac 165,000 fine for failing to comply with the direction that relates to the conduct of casino operations. And lastly, a \u20ac 53,000 for allowing five persons under 21 years of age to access its casino floor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Marina Bay Sands<\/strong>\u2019 total was around \u20ac 10,000. \u20ac 6,600 for allowing underage access and \u20ac 3,300 for allowing a Singaporean permanent resident to access the casino floor without evidence of the payment of the \u20ac 66 <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/singapore-casino-entry-levy\"><em><strong>entry levy imposed on local gamblers<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em><strong>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both casinos had their<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/marina-bay-sands-renovates-contract\"><strong><em>licen<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>ses renewed<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em><strong> <\/strong><\/em>for three-year terms earlier this year, and both are planning&nbsp;<strong>major expansions of their operations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Teo Chun Ching, <\/strong>CRA CEO,&nbsp;said the two casino operators had made <em>\u201cimprovements to their work processes and stepped up measures to enhance their compliance towards the regulatory requirements.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Singapore\u2019s casino received ten times more penalties and fees than on the previous fiscal year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":133,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Singapore's Casino Regulatory Authority (CRA) reported a significant increase in penalties for FY2018-19, totaling \u20ac493,000, primarily impacting Resorts World Sentosa for internal control failures, operational non-compliance, and underage access.
