Deleon Guerrero<\/strong> has responded following criticism about the current situation of Imperial Pacific International and the operator&#8217;s delays in paying its employees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deleon Guerrero said that<strong>\u00a0the regulator is constantly monitoring the situation<\/strong>\u00a0of the operator&#8217;s construction work, employees and the situation of payroll and working conditions. However, he noted that due the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/temporary-restraining-order-against-ccc-extended-until-august-24\" target=\"_blank\">temporary restraining order<\/a>\u00a0issued by the District Court for the NMI, the regulator is &#8220;prohibited from discussing what we have previously discussed every month, and that includes asking IPI for an update of just about everything that they do.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commission&#8217;s executive director,\u00a0<strong>Andrew Yeom<\/strong>, informed commissioners on Thursday that, according to\u00a0<strong>Reddie Dela Cruz<\/strong>, IPI&#8217;s senior human resources adviser, IPI&#8217;s payroll &#8220;is fully up-to-date&#8221; as of August 12, 2022, which was the last pay period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CCC wants to resume proceedings to revoke IPI\u2019s licence. Yeom said that he was waiting for the federal court&#8217;s written order on the situation of the temporary restraining order &#8220;so that we can clearly understand the exact ruling and then we will decide our next course of action.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IPI currently has\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/ipi-now-has-only-seven-security-guards-in-saipan\" target=\"_blank\">seven security guards in Saipan<\/a>\u00a0and several administrative staff. Of the\u00a0<strong>17 security guards\u00a0<\/strong>that\u00a0<strong>Imperial Pacific International<\/strong>\u00a0maintained in Saipan, ten are no longer on the books having either been fired or stopped working due to payment delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One guard told Mariana\u2019s Variety he was working almost 24 hours a day to protect IPI\u2019s casinos, luxury villas and unfinished hotel complex due to staff shortages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this month,\u00a0<strong>\u00a0DeLeon Guerrero<\/strong>\u00a0said that the regulator would continue to exist were it to revoke the licence of the Northern Mariana Islands\u2019\u00a0<strong>sole casino operator<\/strong>.
