Taiwan.- Taiwan authorities have asked all Hong Kong and Macau residents who travel to the island to remain under quarantine, either at home or in a hotel, for 14 days after crossing the border as part of efforts to halt the spread of Coronavirus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The news comes from a statement released by the Taiwan Center for Disease Control (CECC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, nationals from China are temporarily prohibited from entering Taiwan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the CECC, several community-transmitted cases with unknown origin have occurred in Hong Kong. which could indicate an “invisible chain of infection”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision to stop the flow of Macau visitors into the country comes after another case of Coronavirus was confirmed in a Macau casino employee, sparking fears of a “second wave of infection in Macau”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Due to the close social and commercial exchanges between Macau and China, the travel notice level for Hong Kong and Macau was raised to Level 2: Alert on February 5”, the CECC said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Foreign nationals who have visited or resided in China, Hong Kong and Macau in the previous 14 days are temporarily barred from entering Taiwan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since yesterday, Taiwanese nationals with a history of travel to China, Hong Kong and Macau are also required to be under home quarantine for 14 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There have been 16 suspected Coronavirus cases in Taiwan, with Hong Kong recording 24 cases and one death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
