One woman was arrested and <strong>police seized 50 computers<\/strong>. According to local media reports, the woman&#8217;s temporary residence permit had expired. Police found 14 people allegedly gambling at the venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gaming industry in Cyprus is regulated by a number of public bodies, the most important being The Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission which was established in 2015, under the Cyprus Casino Control Law and related Regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cyprus Casino Control Law 2015 provided for a licence to be granted to a single operator to develop an Integrated Casino Resort and four smaller \u2018satellite\u2019 casinos.\u00a0The licence was awarded to Melco Resorts. The company is developing\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/melco-cyprus-to-launch-mediterranean-ir-this-year-despite-delays\" target=\"_blank\">the City of Dreams Mediterranean integrated resort<\/a>, which could open by the end of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May,\u00a0<strong>Lawrence Ho<\/strong>, Melco\u2019s CEO, said the company had encountered difficulties with its contractor, who had struggled to meet its labour resourcing plans and maintain progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cWe are actively dealing with these difficulties as we remain fully committed to delivering Europe\u2019s first integrated resort in Cyprus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melco hopes to create an estimated&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/melco-cyprus-to-open-casino-dealer-school\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">4,000 local job opportunities<\/a>&nbsp;and approximately 2,500 permanent jobs once opened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A woman has been arrested and was found to have been residing illegally in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":26706,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Police in Larnaca, Cyprus, raided an illegal gambling operation, arresting one individual and seizing 50 computers, highlighting ongoing challenges in regulatory enforcement.
