Australia.-\u00a0Blackstone Group<\/strong>\u00a0continues to move pieces on the Crown Resorts board as it attempts to clean up the image of\u00a0the recently acquired casino operator<\/a>. After naming Ciar\u00e1n Pearse Carruthers<\/a>\u00a0as chief executive of Crown Resorts, it’s now named\u00a0Ian Silk as chairman of Crown Melbourne<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Silk, who is a director of DJW Advisory, the Victorian Legal Services Board and the Hawthorn Football Club, will also join the parent company\u2019s board as a non-executive director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the company said: “Mr Silk is widely recognised as one of Australia\u2019s most experienced business leaders, with deep expertise in governance, investment and risk management.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blackstone has also appointed\u00a0Helen Silver<\/strong>, who was secretary of the Victorian Government Department of Premier and Cabinet between 2008 and 2013 and an Allianz Australia executive, and\u00a0Henriette Rothschild<\/strong>, a partner at KordaMentha and Richmond Football Club director, as Crown Melbourne non-executive directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Crown Resorts will finally open its new casino in Sydney. Crown Sydney<\/a>\u00a0will have two VIP gaming floors \u2013 the Crystal Room and the Mahogany Room \u2013 and a private salon. According to the company, the Crystal Room gaming floor will open on August 8 with the Mahogany Room to follow later. Gaming will be for\u00a0VIP members\u00a0<\/strong>and their guests only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA)<\/a> in New South Wales granted approval for Crown Sydney <\/strong>to commence gaming operations with a conditional licence <\/strong>that will expire on December 31, 2023, with the potential for full certification.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
