{"id":32201,"date":"2022-07-29T03:41:39","date_gmt":"2022-07-29T06:41:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=32201"},"modified":"2026-04-23T06:26:24","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T09:26:24","slug":"macau-announces-deadline-for-gaming-concession-tender-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-announces-deadline-for-gaming-concession-tender-process","title":{"rendered":"Macau announces deadline for gaming concession tender process"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Authorities have announced that casino operators must submit their proposals before September 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.-\u00a0The commission tasked to oversee Macau&#8217;s gaming concession retender has announced tht period for submitting bids will run until 5.45pm, Macau time, on September 14.\u00a0Under the executive order, companies must submit some required eligibility documents and\u00a0<strong>pay a minimum deposit of MOP10m (US$1.2m)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commission, which was <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-creates-commission-to-oversee-gaming-concession-tender\" target=\"_blank\">set up this week<\/a>, said bids will be evaluated in accordance with the following factors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The company\u2019s proposal to expand tourist markets from foreign countries;\u00a0<\/li><li>Its experience in operating casinos or other relevant businesses;\u00a0<\/li><li>The benefits of their gaming and non-gaming investments;\u00a0<\/li><li>The company&#8217;s plans to manage its casino operations;\u00a0<\/li><li>Its monitoring and prevention of illegal casino activities recommendations;\u00a0<\/li><li>Its commitment to corporate social responsibility activities.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Andr\u00e9 Cheong Weng Chon<\/strong>, chairman of the Macau committee, said he hopes the process can be completed this year in time for the new concessions to start on January 1, 2023. He said the committee would do all it can to ensure that the tender requirements are fair to Macau&#8217;s six existing operators and other bidders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new gaming legislation allows&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casino-licences-limited-to-six-with-a-duration-of-10-years\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">up to six gaming concessions<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 equal to the current number \u2013 with a length of 10 years. Casino operators must have a registered capital of at least MOP5bn while their licences are valid.
