Mariana&#8217;s Variety has reported that its remaining security guards in Saipan have not received pay ofr June and that the company now owes four payrolls. Some of the 17 security guards have stopped going as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, it was reported that representatives of financier IH Group wanted to attend today&#8217;s meeting between IPI and the Commonwealth Casino Commission. However, the casino commissioner <strong>Ramon M. De la Cruz<\/strong> opposed the request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IH Group, a South Korean company, has signed a letter of intent to provide IPI with a capital injection of $150m to enable it to meet its obligations to creditors, resume operations and resume construction,\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De la Cruz said that as the casino commission is under a temporary restraining order from the federal court, it cannot address the problems related to IPI. He said it can only discuss administrative matters within the commission, which is required by law to meet regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IPI has reportedly paid its debts with construction workers, except for Jess Aquiningoc, the former head of Imperial Pacific International&#8217;s construction team,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/former-construction-team-leader-sues-ipi\" target=\"_blank\">who has sued the company<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aquiningoc said\u00a0<strong>IPI owes him for paid time off<\/strong>\u00a0that he accumulated over the past two years. He said he had to borrow money and go into debt with family and friends as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/ccc-and-ipi-still-havent-signed-a-settlement-agreement\" target=\"_blank\">Due to continuous delays<\/a>, the CCC has filed an opposition to IPI\u2019s motion for a preliminary injunction that prevented it from revoking IPI\u2019s casino licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to CCC attorneys, the basis of IPI\u2019s initial motion is that Section 30 of the Casino Licence Agreement (CLA) requires arbitration, or an alternate resolution outside court, for its force majeure defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IPI filed its motion for preliminary injunction eight months after CCC executive director&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/andrew-yeom-files-a-fifth-complaint-against-ipi\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Andrew Yeom filed five enforcement actions against it<\/a>&nbsp;and over a year after the commission suspended IPI\u2019s licence after two evidentiary hearings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The company currently has 17 security guards, but some of them are not reporting to work due to payroll delays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Imperial Pacific International (IPI) continues to face severe financial distress, evidenced by multiple unpaid payrolls to its security personnel and ongoing litigation with former employees.
