{"id":31746,"date":"2022-07-14T03:50:22","date_gmt":"2022-07-14T06:50:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=31746"},"modified":"2026-04-23T06:53:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T09:53:17","slug":"construction-workers-demand-payments-from-ipis-real-estate-properties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/construction-workers-demand-payments-from-ipis-real-estate-properties","title":{"rendered":"Construction workers demand payment from IPI properties"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A stay agreement approved by Chief Justice Ramona Manglona allows seven workers to apply for multiple ways to collect upon their judgment against IPI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Northern Mariana Islands.-\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/cnmi-court-orders-payment-of-legal-fees-for-7-workers-who-sued-ipi\" target=\"_blank\">The seven workers<\/a>\u00a0who sued IPI for alleged labour violations and human trafficking are seeking to claim payments from IPI\u2019s real estate properties. <strong>Aaron Halegua<\/strong>, the attorney representing the workers, has asked for a court order directing IPI and real estate parties to provide plaintiffs with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All prepaid rents and deposits of real estate as security;<\/li><li>copies of lease agreements, lease lists, accounting documents and all other books and records relating to the property secured;<\/li><li>until all monies owed by IPI to the plaintiffs are paid, any and all future rents or income received for the collateral properties within 72 hours of receiving those funds.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Halegua noted that\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/cnmi-court-approves-stay-agreement-between-ipi-and-construction-workers\" target=\"_blank\">the stay agreement approved by Chief Justice Ramona Manglona<\/a>\u00a0after IPI signed an agreement with the seven workers to stay enforcement action expressly\u00a0<strong>allows plaintiffs to perform different methods\u00a0<\/strong>simultaneously to enforce their judgment against IPI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Halegua has also asked the court to order reasonable attorneys\u2019 fees for the time plaintiffs spent on rent claim letters and filing. Plaintiffs have a separate motion pending, asking the court to stop the stay on the limited receivership of the sale of IPI&#8217;s casino gaming equipment so that the judgment can be complied with.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Federal Court still has to rule on the application, but Judge Manglona has scheduled a hearing for July 15 at 10am. The Commonwealth Casino Commission told the court that it has no objection to the sale of IPI&#8217;s slot machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CCC and IPI could sign a settlement agreement by the end of this week<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As previously reported by Focus Gaming News, IPI and the CCC and the CCC may finally sign a settlement agreement this week following&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/ccc-and-ipi-move-closer-to-settlement-agreement\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">negotiations over the past month<\/a>.
