{"id":31670,"date":"2022-07-12T06:05:35","date_gmt":"2022-07-12T09:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=31670"},"modified":"2026-04-23T06:56:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T09:56:38","slug":"universal-entertainment-claims-it-drove-okada-manila-performance-in-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/universal-entertainment-claims-it-drove-okada-manila-performance-in-june","title":{"rendered":"Universal Entertainment claims it drove Okada Manila performance in June"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Universal Entertainment claims it was responsible for Okada Manila\u2019s strong performance, not Kazuo Okada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines.- Kazuo Okada\u00a0issued a statement yesteryday announcing that after <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/controversy-surrounds-kazuo-okadas-return-to-okada-manila\" target=\"_blank\">he regained control of the casino resort<\/a>, foot traffic <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/okada-manila-says-foot-traffic-up-8-in-june\">increased by 8 per cent month-on-month<\/a> reaching around 74 per cent of pre-pandemic levels in June, while casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) was up by 4 per cent against June 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Universal Entertainment, which operated the property until May 31, quickly responded with a press release,<strong>\u00a0accusing Okada&#8217;s representatives of holding a &#8220;baseless and fraudulent&#8221; press conference\u00a0<\/strong>and participating in \u201ccredit grabbing\u201d by claiming responsibility for Okada Manila\u2019s business performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company claimed that any sustainability of the resort&#8217;s business performance was due to the prior work of its &#8220;legitimate board of directors&#8221; in approving a recovery and sustainability plan to allow Okada Manila &#8220;to grow and flourish after suffering from the adverse effects of the community quarantines linked to the Covid-19 pandemic.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Universal claims that Okada&#8217;s team took over the property illegally using violence and intimidation.
