The man, aged 31, was reportedly looking for bettors when he was apprehended by police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police claim the suspect was an e-Sabong agent who facilitated online cockfighting despite\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippines-president-changes-his-mind-and-orders-e-sabong-ban\" target=\"_blank\">President Duterte&#8217;s ban<\/a>. The suspect is being held on charges of illegal gambling and violations of Republic Act 1075 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the <strong>immediate suspension of online cockfighting operations<\/strong> in May after receiving criticism for prioritising the economy over people. In March,\u00a0<strong>23 senators<\/strong>\u00a0had signed\u00a0<strong>Resolution No. 996\u00a0<\/strong>calling for a suspension of e-sabong after\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippines-calls-for-e-sabong-to-be-suspended-after-31-disappear\" target=\"_blank\">31 people linked to the industry disappeared<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few weeks ago, a report revealed that the people who disappeared were last seen at arenas operated by e-sabong firm Lucky 8 Star Quest.
