Although there are eight casinos on Jeju island,\u00a0<strong>only three are open<\/strong>:\u00a0<strong>Jeju Shinhwa World<\/strong>, operated by Hong Kong-listed Landing International,\u00a0<strong>Paradise Casino<\/strong>, operated by Paradise Co and Jeju Dream Tower, run by Lotte Tour Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The possibility of allowing South Korean casinos to offer remote gambling began to be discussed last October when\u00a0Lee Sang-heon, a member of the National Assembly\u2019s Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, said\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/proposal-for-south-korean-foreigner-only-casinos-to-offer-remote-gambling\" target=\"_blank\">foreigner-only casinos<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>should be allowed to introduce such services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/jeju-casinos-could-add-remote-gambling-and-blockchain-technology\" target=\"_blank\">November,<\/a> experts discussed ideas to help the industry recover at the Jeju International Casino Policy Forum. However,\u00a0authorities ruled out the possibility of <strong>allowing South Korean nationals to gamble\u00a0<\/strong>as many people were against the idea.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/south-korean-casinos-visits-down-71-3-in-2020\" target=\"_blank\">South Korean casinos<\/a>\u00a0received only 1.76m visits, down from 6.13m in 2019. Jeju casinos welcomed 166,873 visitors, down 54.8 per cent when compared to pre-pandemic levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visa-free entry to Jeju Island\u00a0<\/strong>for holders of certain passports, including those from mainland China was resumed on June 1. All foreigners entering South Korea\u00a0must be fully vaccinated and must be tested for Covid-19 within 24 hours of arriving. Any foreigner who is unvaccinated or who tests positive for Covid-19 on arrival is required to undergo a seven-day quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeju\u2019s visa-free entry programme allows citizens of most countries, including China, to stay in Jeju for up to 30 days.
