However, the draft bill does not clarify what happens if another concessionaire wants to reopen a closed satellite casino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Legislator Ella Lei Cheng I<\/strong>\u00a0has recently called on the government to ensure\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-should-monitor-satellite-casino-employees-status-legislator-says\" target=\"_blank\">employees keep their jobs<\/a>\u00a0in the transition to new legislation. A few days ago,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sjm-to-absorb-workers-left-unemployed-by-satellite-casino-closures\" target=\"_blank\">SJM Holdings\u2019 executive director<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Angela Leong On Kei\u00a0<\/strong>said the casino operator would take care of employees who may be affected by the closure of satellite casinos linked to the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Second Macau committee finishes reading of gaming law amendment bill<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Legislative Council\u2019s second standing committee has completed its reading of Macau\u2019s proposed new general gambling law<strong>.&nbsp;<\/strong>The bill is expected to be signed and sent to the plenary for a vote on June 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the final draft law,&nbsp;<strong>management company shareholders can receive rental income<\/strong>&nbsp;and management company affiliate fees and commissions if they also hold an intermediary licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities are also working on a bill that proposes&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-new-vip-gaming-promoter-law-to-be-submitted-soon\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">changes to the legal framework<\/a>&nbsp;concerning junket operations. In the first reading,&nbsp;<strong>30 MPs voted in favour&nbsp;<\/strong>while one voted against the bill.
