The first raid ended with the arrest of<strong>\u00a0nine men who were allegedly taking bets <\/strong>physically and online. Those arrested were aged between 52 and 76.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A second raid\u00a0was carried out on Changi Road. Police arrested<strong> eight men and a woman<\/strong>\u00a0who were allegedly involved in illegal gambling activities. During the raid, police seized gambling paraphernalia and mobile phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Singapore,&nbsp;<strong>bookmakers may be fined $20,000 to $200,000&nbsp;<\/strong>and can be sentenced to a maximum of five years in jail. Those who place bets with a bookmaker may be fined up to $5,000 and receive up to six months in jail, or both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/singapore-parliament-passes-new-gambling-legislation\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Singapore parliament<\/a>&nbsp;approved the&nbsp;<strong>Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore Bill<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>Gambling Control Bill.<\/strong>&nbsp;The former will create the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/new-singapore-gambling-legislation-receives-first-reading\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA)<\/a>&nbsp;as a single regulator for all forms of gambling.
