Manglona\u00a0<\/strong>has dismissed a lawsuit brought by\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/turkish-workers-sue-ipi-for-discrimination\" target=\"_blank\">three former IPI workers<\/a>\u00a0who demanded an unspecified amount of damages and a jury trial after accusing the company of discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Turkish plaintiffs, \u00d6zcan Gen\u00e7, Hasan G\u00f6k\u00e7e, and S\u00fcleyman K\u00f6\u015f, had claimed through attorney Richard Miller that IPI committed discrimination based on their nationality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the lawsuit, the company hired other construction workers, including Taiwanese workers under the H-2B visa programme during the same period that it hired the plaintiffs to work at the Garapan Palace Casino. The Taiwanese workers had the same or similar level of skills, qualifications and experience as the plaintiffs in the types of jobs they performed but were paid much higher wages, in some cases nearly twice as much, the lawsuit alleged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However,<strong>\u00a0IPI pro hac vice counsel Daniel Weiner\u00a0<\/strong>filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing that the plaintiffs did not present a reasonable case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manglona ruled: \u201cThe court grants defendant\u2019s motion to dismiss the complaint with leave for plaintiffs to amend the complaint, including to amend class definition. Court further grants plaintiff\u2019s request for enlargement of time.
