{"id":29847,"date":"2022-05-13T07:31:07","date_gmt":"2022-05-13T10:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=29847"},"modified":"2026-04-23T08:44:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T11:44:01","slug":"genting-singapore-gaming-revenue-up-42-2-for-q1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/genting-singapore-gaming-revenue-up-42-2-for-q1","title":{"rendered":"Genting Singapore gaming revenue up 42.2% for Q1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Genting Singapore has posted a gaming revenue of SG$234.5m (US$168m) for the first quarter of the year, up 42.2 per cent quarter-on-quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Singapore.-\u00a0Genting Singapore\u00a0has published\u00a0its <strong>financial results for the first quarter of 2021<\/strong>, reporting a rise in gaming revenue of 42.2 per cent when compared to the previous quarter and of 8.1 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company posted a net profit of SG$40.4m (US$28.9m), up 17.3 per cent quarter-on-quarter and up 16.9 per cent when compared to last year. Revenue was<strong> SG$314.5m (US$225m)<\/strong>, up 13.2 per cent year-on-year and 20.5 per cent quarter-on-quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adjusted earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) came in at SG$124.8m, up 80 per cent quarter-on-quarter but down 2.5 per cent when compared to Q1 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company attributed the decline to &#8220;the rise in utility expenses and the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/singapore-passenger-volume-grows-after-easing-of-covid-19-rules\" target=\"_blank\">expiry of Covid-19 related government support measures<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Genting Singapore said: \u201cWhile we are encouraged by the gradual increase in footfall to our integrated resort\u2026 we anticipate that the pace of recovery in leisure travel will be moderated by the limited flight schedules, high airfares and ongoing travel restrictions on visitors from certain countries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As previously reported by Focus Gaming News,&nbsp;<strong>Yin Shao Yang<\/strong>, an analyst at Maybank, has said that it\u2019s unlikely that&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/genting-singapore-ggr-unlikely-to-recover-soon-analysts-say\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Genting Singapore\u2019s gross gaming revenue<\/a>&nbsp;will return to pre-pandemic levels anytime soon due to the fact that competition in the Asian market has grown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Maybank,&nbsp;<strong>Resorts World Sentosa<\/strong>\u2018s VIP volume will return to 83 per cent of 2019 levels by mid-2022, while mass-market will recover to 92 per cent of its prior levels next year, from 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resorts World Sentosa expansion plan to start this quarter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Genting Singapore&#8217;s&nbsp;<strong>Resorts World Sentosa (RWS)<\/strong>&nbsp;has confirmed it will carry out a phased refurbishment from this quarter to 2023.
