The Court of First Instance has ruled in favour of Las Vegas Sands Corp (LVS) in the case brought by Asian American Entertainment Corp Ltd (AAEC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The\u00a0legal battle between Las Vegas Sands<\/strong> and Asian American Entertainment Corp\u00a0<\/strong>appears to be over for now with a judgement in LVS’s favour. The Court of First Instance has ruled in favour of LVS in a case that began two decades ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AAEC was claiming US$7.5bn<\/strong>\u00a0from LVS for breach of contract. The two companies had signed a partnership in October 2001 with a view to exploring a potential bid for a Macau concession, however, LVS ultimately partnered with\u00a0Galaxy Entertainment<\/strong>, with whom it won a licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LVS\u2019s lawyer claimed that AAEC was the first to break up the partnership<\/a> <\/strong>and trade with rivals including Hong Kong entrepreneur Lui Che Woo. The lawyer also denied the other party\u2019s claim that Las Vegas Sands gave Galaxy Casino SA access to confidential bidding documents prepared by Asian American Entertainment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the final bid, which originally combined the capabilities of Las Vegas Sands and Galaxy Casino SA, was based entirely on the US group\u2019s resort business model for the Venetian Las Vegas casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February,\u00a0Judge Seng Ioi Man<\/strong>, sitting at Macau\u2019s Court of First Instance, said\u00a0there was no proof<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0AAEC\u00a0<\/strong>had a definitive agreement to tie with\u00a0LVS<\/strong>\u00a0to bid for a Macau gaming concession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
