Authorities in Macau have shared details on the bill that proposes a new regulatory system for junket operators in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- Macau authorities have today revealed certain aspects of a bill that proposes\u00a0changes to the legal framework<\/a>\u00a0concerning junket operations. The Macau Executive Council\u00a0<\/strong>said the bill would require the government to approve contracts between junket operators and casino franchises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a press release from the executive committee, the aim is to improve oversight of the industry. It’s already been revealed that in the future every Macau junket operator will have to work with\u00a0only one casino operator<\/a>. Individuals will no longer be licensed as intermediaries; only companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill also provides criminal penalties for junkets who “illegally accept deposits from the public.” Offenders could face up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
