The current licences are to expire in June, but last month\u00a0<strong>Lei Wai Nong<\/strong>, Macau\u2019s secretary for economy and finance, confirmed that licences would be <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casino-licences-to-be-extended-to-december-31-2022\" target=\"_blank\">extended until December 31<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sands-china-charged-us6m-for-six-month-licence-extension-in-macau\" target=\"_blank\">Sands China<\/a>\u00a0had already confirmed that Venetian Macau Ltd had applied for the extension, which entails a MOP47m (US$6m) fee and provision of a bank guarantee up to MOP1.6bn to cover possible employee dismissals. Now DICJ director\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-adriano-ho-to-continue-as-dicj-director-until-2023\" target=\"_blank\">Adriano Marques Ho<\/a> has confirmed that all operators have applied for the extensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cWe received the requests and we are analysing. When the moment is right we will divulge the decision.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau&#8217;s gaming law amendment bill, which is still in debate, would allow\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casino-licences-limited-to-six-with-a-duration-of-10-years\" target=\"_blank\">up to six gaming concessions<\/a>\u00a0with a length of 10 years and the possibility of a 3-year extension. A\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-gaming-bill-may-get-a-final-vote-by-end-of-june\" target=\"_blank\">final reading of the gaming law amendment bill<\/a>\u00a0is expected by June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Seven satellite casinos will stop operating by mid-year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Gaming industry sources told the Chinese-language newspaper Macau Daily that&nbsp;<strong>seven satellite casinos plan to suspend operations&nbsp;<\/strong>by mid-year. The casinos are said to have taken the decision due to the negative impact of repeated Covid-19 outbreaks, tighter visa requirements in the city and lack of cash flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are currently&nbsp;<strong>18 satellite casinos in Macau&nbsp;<\/strong>operating under licences attached to one of the six casino concessionaires but run by third parties on individually owned premises.
