The committee has apparently suggested that Thailand&#8217;s first casino could be in Bangkok or surrounding areas due to the proximity to airports, road connections and hotel infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/first-land-based-casino-in-thailand-could-go-to-remote-province\" target=\"_blank\">Other possible locations<\/a>\u00a0would be popular tourist destinations near border provinces and immigration checkpoints. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government, which has historically opposed gambling, is considering casinos due to the Covid-19 pandemic&#8217;s impact on the country&#8217;s economy and tourism.\u00a0In December, an extraordinary House committee created five sub-committees to study the possible legalisation of gambling at integrated resorts in Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For now,&nbsp;<strong>gambling is illegal in Thailand<\/strong>&nbsp;other than through state lotteries and horseracing through the Bangkok Turf Club.
